Charlotte Tilbury’s Iconic Looks: The Sophisticate with Nars And God Created the Woman palette

La inspiración está en el aire.  En realidad nunca me dejó de gustar el maquillaje durante esta pausa, sólo empecé a sentir que mi maquillaje cotidiano no era lo suficientemente interesante como para mostrarlo aquí o en MUB.  Lo que quiero decir es, ¿para qué mostrar un maquillaje hecho en aproximadamente 5 minutos de los cuales la mitad fue en el carro (desde luego yo como copiloto)?  Aun a mi pesar, muchas veces la parte "rushing" le gana a la "glam".  Otro motivo para mantener el maquillaje al mínimo: se vuelve un batidillo al correr.  Como tal vez han visto en otras entradas, empecé a correr y me está yendo muy bien.  He descubierto que al igual que el maquillaje, correr a la Forrest Gump me hace feliz.

Inspiration seems to be in the air.  It’s not that I stopped liking makeup at any point during this break, but I just started to feel my everyday makeup was so blah that it wasn’t worth featuring it here or at MUB.  I mean why feature a makeup look done in less than 5 minutes and probably half of it done while in the car (not driving of course, but as copilot)?  As much as I don’t like it, there is a moment where the “rushing” part of my life is stronger than the “glam” part.  Anyway there was another reason to keep makeup at its minimal: it melts while running.  As you may have seen in other posts, I started running, and I’m doing pretty well.  I’ve found that along with makeup, running like Forrest Gump makes me happy.

Luego del breviario deportivo / películas de los 90's, regreso al maquillaje.  El segundo look de Charlotte Tilbury que elegí es Sophisticate.  Me pareció atractivo después des escuchar que está inspirado en iconos como Audrey Hepburn y Natalie Portman -¿quien no se sentiría inspirado por mujeres inteligentes y hermosas? Después de la vibra Gossip Girl de la entrada pasada, me pareció que la vibra de mujeres inteligentes y empoderadas era una buena opción.

After my sports / movies from the 90’s break, I’m going back to makeup.  The second look from Charlotte Tilbury’s looks I chose is the Sophisticate.  I felt attracted to it after listening it’s inspired on women like Audrey Hepburn and Natalie Portman –who wouldn’t feel inspired by such intelligent and beautiful women?  After the Gossip Girl vibe from the latest post, I thought intelligent, empowered women vibe was good to try next.

Hasta aquí maravilloso, ¿no es así?  Después de ver el vídeo descubrí que tan sencillo y rápido como el "Uptown Girl", de hecho la aplicación me parece muy similar.  De hecho, la única diferencia real que le encontré fue la selección de tonos.  "Uptown Girl" usa tonos rosados y malva, mientras que "Sophisticate" se va con tonos cafés.  Dije en la entrada pasada que iba a intentar "Uptown Girl" con otros tonos, y al final terminé intentándolo con tonos que me parecen "aburridos".

So far so good, right?  After watching the video, I found out that it was as easy and fast to achieve as the “Uptown Girl” look, even the application method seems similar to me.  In fact, the only real difference I could find were the shades: “Uptown Girl” features mauve and pink shades while “Sophisticate” goes with earthy tones –yes, browns.  I said in the latest post that I wanted to try “Uptown Girl” with other shades, and seems I ended up trying it with the genre of shades I usually find “boring”.

Sé que no debería decir que las sombras cafés son aburridas, pero hay que admitir algo: todas tenemos al menos una sombra café en nuestra colección (independientemente del tamaño) y es el tipo de tono que usamos cuando queremos una decisión fácil de maquillaje.  El café funciona bien para los looks naturales, es una buena alternativa para quienes le tienen miedo al negro o que les parece muy fuerte el negro, honestamente también hay una alta probabilidad de que tu primera paleta de sombras en la vida incluya café (y beige).  Es decir, es muy versátil, pero considerando que prácticamente es la primera opción de sombras en casi todo el mundo, el café puede ser popular pero poco innovador. 

I know I shouldn’t say brown eyeshadows are boring, but let’s face it: everyone has at least one brown eyeshadow in their stash and it’s the kind of shade you always use when you don’t want to think about your makeup.  Brown works for the natural look, is a good alternative for everyone who’s afraid of using black or that finds black too harsh; and be honest, there’s a high probability that your first eyeshadow palette included brow (and beige).  I mean, it’s really versatile, but considering it might be the number one choice for eyeshadow shade all over the world, brown can be popular but it will rarely be innovative.

Y aún así, funciona.  En lugar de irme directamente con tonos cafés muy cálidos, opté por las sombras Kalahari y Galapagos de la paleta "And God created the Woman" de Nars, que son cafés pero no tienden al naranja.  Completé el look con el blush en crema Panamá de Dior (verano 2013) y el Glossy Stain #6 Camel Croissiere de YSL.  Me parece que funciona como "Uptown Girl" para un look sencillo para el diario, simplemente que la elección de tonos es de acuerdo a las preferencias personales.  Creo que ya es claro que en mi caso tiendo más hacia "Uptown Girl" debido a que me gusta usar tonos que contrasten con el color de mis ojos en lugar de que coordinen con éstos, pero me parece que ambos funcionan.

Yet, it works.  Instead of going for true earthy warm tones, I took Kalahari and Galapagos from the “And God created the woman” palette by Nars, which are still in the brown side but not leaning towards orange.  I completed the look with Dior Panama cream blush (from summer 2013) and YSL Glossy Stain #6 Camel Croissiere.  I think this one works as good as the “Uptown Girl” for an easy effortless chic everyday look and the choice of which one of those to wear it’s just up to your preferences.  I think it’s already clear that I would personally go for the “Uptown Girl” since I prefer to use contrasting shades to my eye color instead of matching ones, but I still believe both are great alternatives.
