#TourDeMuseos: Fernando García Ponce | Un Impulso Constructivo @ MAM

El tema de hoy no está relacionado con la belleza, pero me pareció interesante.  La Ciudad de México tiene muchos museos, así que una amiga y yo decidimos iniciar un “Tour de Museos”, para empezar a descubrir.  Estamos haciendo esto dos veces al mes, y aunque no soy experta en arte decidí compartir algunas impresiones –tampoco soy experta en belleza y escribo este blog, así que, por qué no?  Esto es arte, y a veces quiero ver el maquillaje desde una perspectiva artística: usando el rostro como lienzo.  En fin, la primera parada del tour fue la exposición de los Samurai’s en el Museo de Antropología –de ese escribiré después.

This is not beauty related but I decided to post it anyway, since I thought it could be interesting.  Mexico City has a huge amount of museums, so a friend and I decided to start a “Museum Tour”, so we could start discovering.  We’re doing this twice a month, and even when I’m not an art expert I thought I could share some thoughts –I’m not a beauty expert and I write here, so why not?  This is art, and sometimes I want to see makeup in an artistic way: using my face as a canvas.  Anyway, the first stop was the temporary exhibit about Samurais at Antropology Museum –I’ll write about that one later. 

Hoy me referiré a la segunda parada: una visita al Museo de Arte Moderno (MAM) que actualmente tiene una exposición del trabajo de Fernando García Ponce.  Él nació en Mérida, Yucatán y estudió arquitectura en la Ciudad de México.  Sin embargo, un año antes de terminar sus estudios decidió dejarlos y dedicarse a la pintura.  Es parte de la “Generación de la Ruptura” (Nueva Pintura Mexicana). De lo que pude apreciar en la exposición, si hizo algo de trabajo arquitectónico y también muchos collages. Su trabajo es muy abstracto y colorido. Aquí hay algunas fotos de lo que ví:

Today I’ll tell you about the 2nd stop in my tour: a visit to Modern Art Museum (MAM) that has an exhibit about Fernando García Ponce work.  He was born in Mérida Yucatán and started studying architecture in Mexico City.  However, one year before he finished his studies, he decided to leave them and start painting.  He’s part of “Generación de la Ruptura” (New Mexican Painting).  From what I was able to see in the exhibit, he still did some architectural work and also many collages.  His work is very abstract and colorful. Aclaración: no soy crítica de arte, así que mi reseña es algo “light”.  De todas formas, dado que fue un artista mexicano, me pareció buena idea compartir algo del patrimonio artístico de México.

Disclaimer: I’m not an art critic so my reviews will be a bit “light”.  Anyway, he was a Mexican artist and I thought I should share some of Mexican artistic heritage.
