Jun: Lo que usé / What I’ve used

Hace mucho que no escribía una entrada de estas, bueno… es que había dejado de escribir por un rato.  En fin, quería mostrarles algunos productos que he descubierto y que he usado mucho durante el mes pasado.  Claro, no hablo de exactamente todos los productos que usé, pero si de los que más me han gustado.

It’s been a while since I didn’t write this kind of posts… well, I stopped posting for a while. However, I wanted to let you know the great stuff I’ve discovered and used quite much during this past month. Of course I’m not talking about every single item I used, but about the things I used and loved.

 

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light

Esta base se está volviendo mi HG.  Usé una prueba de la Double Wear y de ésta, y me gustaron ambas.  Sin embargo, esta es más ligera.  No me gustan las bases que se sienten plastas, así que hasta las de cobertura media trato de hacerlas más ligeras.  ¿Cómo lo logro? Uso la brocha para base de Shiseido para obtener una capa delgada.  The esta forma, obtengo la sensación ligera de un Tinted Moisturizer, sin sentirlo grasoso –ya sé que hay muchas fans de los TM, pero aún no logro encontrar uno con el que no me vea brillosa y no sienta grasosa la cara.  ELDWL además logra que mi rostro no tenga brillos por un buen rato (no por siempre, pero para eso viene un producto que ayuda.

This one it’s on its way for becoming my HG foundation. I tried a sample of this one and of Double Wear, and liked both. However, this one felt lightweight. I hate cakey foundation, so even the ones with medium coverage I try to sheer them. How do I do that? I use Shiseido foundation brush to get a thin layer. That way, I feel the lightness of a tinted moisturizer without feeling it greasy –I know there are many TM fans out there, but every one I’ve tried has made my face look shiny and greasy. ELDWL also gets my face shine-free for quite a long time (not forever, but one of the next items I’ll list is the complement.

Shiseido Foundation Brush

El mejor descubrimiento en cuanto a aplicación de base de este año –el del año pasado fue la Beauty Blender.  Logras una aplicación delgada, casi con efecto air brush.  Esta la he usado para aplicar bases líquidas (como ELDWL, Mac Studio Fix fluid, Chanel Perfection Lumiere, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, etc.), bases en crema (RCMA) y hasta en polvo (Laura Mercier y Nars).  Es una gran compra, creo que debería comprar uno más de repuesto.

The best discover I did for foundation application that I’ve done so far this year –last year’s was Beauty Blender. You can get a thin foundation layer, almost airbrushed. I’ve used this one to apply liquid foundation (like ELDW, MAC Studio Fix fluid, Chanel Perfection Lumiere, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, etc.), cream foundation (RCMA foundation) and even powder (Laura Mercier and Nars). This is a great buy, I’m actually thinking about getting a back-up.

 

MAC Blot Powder

Había escuchado mucho sobre el poder para controlar la grasa de este polvo, pero nunca lo encontraba en las tiendas MAC sino hasta dos meses.  La chica del mostrador ya me quería dar el tono Dark.  Yo sé que les enseñan a determinar el tono de base y polvo por la línea de la quijada, pero también deberían enseñarles que las personas contornean.  Así que quiso hacer el match con mi tono de contorno.  En fin, le dije que me enseñara otros tonos y me quedé con el Medium Dark.

I’ve heard a lot about this powder’s oil control power, but never saw it at MAC counters or stores, until two months ago. The lady at the counter told me Dark would suit me. I know SA’s are taught to do foundation/powder match with the jawline, but I think they should be also trained to realize when people contour their faces, so their jawline is not their foundation shade. Anyway, I just told her I was not taking that shade and asked to see the other options. I ended up taking Medium Dark.

Independientemente de lo del tono, este polvo es una maravilla!!!  Te da un acabao parejito y controla muy bien el exceso de grasa. Desde luego que me encanta el Banana Powder de Ben Nye, y también el polvo HD de MUFE para fijar mi maquillaje, pero este es ideal para el retoque.  Desde el año pasado que usé el polvo compacto de Guerlain (meteoritos) que me lo acabé, hace mucho que no me estaba acabando uno como en esta ocasión.  Una reseña más extensiva de éste viene ahora que me compre el segundo

Anyway, after all this shade stuff I must say this powder works wonderful!!! It gives a flawless finish and controls oil quite well. I still love Ben Nye Banana Powder and MUFE HD powder to set my foundation, but this one is the perfect carry on for touch ups. Since last year that I hitted pan with Guerlain Meteorites Pressed Powder, this is the first time I hit pan on a face powder. A more extensive review to come, when I get my second Mac Blot ;) 

 

Burberry Blossom Blush

Creo que mis Joues Contraste de Chanel y mis blushes de Nars estarán lagrimeando, pero este me encanta.  Tal vez suena imposible, tengo tantos blushes, pero he usado éste casi a dario por más de un mes.  Me parece muy cómodo, y el tono coral que tiene se ve muy natural.  Ahora también tengo Earthy, que quise usar como tono de contorno, pero la verdad me gusta más como un blush nude.  He visto varias reseñas positivas del tono Cameo, así que tal vez lo pruebe próximamente.

I guess my Chanel Joues Contrastes and Nars blushes are weeping, but I love this one. It may sound impossible, but not matter if I have a two-digit blush amount; I’ve using this one like daily for more than a month now. I just feel so comfortable with its coral shade, it looks so natural. I now have Earthy too, which more than a contour shade, turn out to be a great nude blush for my skintone. I’ve heard also great things about Cameo, so maybe I could get that one later.

 

Burberry Eye Shadows

Creo que ya me van a odiar porque me la paso escribiendo de esta marca, pero estas sombras me encantan.  No soy sólo yo, hay mucho amor para la línea de Burberry en la blogósfera.  Trench es un gran tono para el arco de la ceja, y se habla mucho de Pale Barley y Rosewood –yo personalmente prefiero Rosewood como mi sombra del diario. Es el tipo de tono taupe que puedo poner en todo el párpado cuando ando de prisa –cuándo no? También te permite hacer looks más complejos.  También tengo Midnight Brown que es un café precioso y me encantaría conseguir algunos otros tonos –esas las mencinoaré en mi próxima wishlist. También les mostraré algunos looks con estas sombras pronto.

I think I will make you all hate me because since I started blogging again, I haven’t stopped talking about Burberry stuff, but I really love these eye shadows. It’s not only me; you can see some Burberry eye shadow love through the blogosphere. Trench is a great brow highlighter, while there has been a lot of love around Pale Barley and Rosewood. I personally prefer Rosewood as my every day to-go shade. It’s the kind of taupe I can use as a wash of color when I’m in a rush –mostly, always- but I can also use it to create some more complex EOTD. I also have Midnight Brown that’s a gorgeous brown, and would love to get a couple more shades –but I’ll show you those in my new wishlist / lemming list. I will also show you some EOTD using these eyeshadows sometime soon.

 

Shiseido Opera trio

Ya vieron algunos looks con este trio de Shiseido, así que ya se pueden imaginar si me gusta.  También me gustó mucho Fire, pero como me parece más fácil de usar, me he dedicado un poco al que me parece más retador: Opera.  Mi próximo experimento será seguir la idea de Kate de Drivel about Frivol (uno de los mejores blogs que he visto): usa el azul de Opera y el naranja de Fire.

You have seen a couple FOTD posted here with this trio, so you may imagine I’m really enjoying using these. I like Fire too, but since I found it more easy-wearing, I’m kind of using the most challenging one for me: Opera. My next challenge is to use both trios as Kate from Drivel about Frivol (one of the best blogs I’ve visited) recommended me: the blue from Opera and the orange from Fire.

 

Dr Bell Pomade / Pomada de la Campana

Para las mexicanas, esto va a sonar como a consejo de abuelita.  Este era el “remedio para todo”, tal vez sólo comparable con el Vicks Vaporub jajajaja.  En fin, tuve una reacción alérgica a una crema depilatoria, así que necesité algo para quitarme la irritación.  Vi esto en el supermecado y me lo llevé, además de pomada para bebé –que al final fue lo que me quitó la irritación.  Sin embargo, terminé usando esta pomada en los labios y es milagrosa!!!!  Desde que la uso ya no se me parten lo labios debido a al aire acondicionado de mi trabajo.  También la uso como base antes del labial, y así me resecan menos los labios.

For all mexicans, this will sound like a grandma advice. This used to be a “remedy for everything”, maybe only comparable with Vicks Vaporub hehehe. Anyway, since I had an allergic reaction to an epilatory cream, I needed something to relief the itching sensation. I saw this at the supermarket and got it, I also got some baby cream –which was actually what helped me. However, I ended up using Dr Bell Pomade on my lips, and it’s a miracle!!!! I’m not having chapped lips due to air conditioning anymore. I use this also as base before lipstick, they have become less drying.
