Nars Guy Bourdin Coeur Battant blush

Supe que debía tener este blush desde que leí el nombre “Coeur Battant” (francés para corazón latiendo) y cuando vi el tono, definitivamente caí.  Me hizo recordar una película francesa de 2005 que vi hace tiempo llamada “De battre mon coeur s’est arêté” (mi corazón dejó de latir), que poéticamente se tradujo al inglés como “The Beat that my heart skipped” (el latido que mi corazón se saltó).  La película ganó varios premios incluyendo BAFTA y Caesars.  No obstante, más allá del “corazón” y los “latidos”, creo que no tiene mucho que ver con este blush.

I knew I had to own this blush when I first read its name “Coeur Battant” (French for beating heart) and when I saw the shade, I totally fell for it.  It made me remember a 2005 French movie I watched some years ago titled “De battre mon cœur s'est arêté” (my heart has stopped beating), that was translated into the poetically “The Beat That My Heart Skipped”.  This film won several prizes including BAFTA and Caesars.  So, a part from the “heart” and “beating”, the film has nothing to do with the blush. 

De regreso al tema principal de esta entrada, aún con una colección bastante grande de blushes, este me parece bastante único.  Esto es cierto al menos en mi colección –más adelante les muestro algunas alternativas, y advierto que no tengo Narcissist de Tom Ford, que sería el más cercano competidor.  Claro que si vas empezando con esto del maquillaje, va a ser un tono que te asuste un poco, aun cuando aplicado de forma muy ligera se ve lindo y sin cara de payaso.  Si empiezas con el maquillaje o simplemente un tono así te da miedo, te recomiendo mejor veas el blush Day Dream (de la misma colección) o ve por uno de los tonos nude que mostré en estaentrada. 

Going back to our main subject, even when having a fairly big blush stash, this one is fairly unique, and that makes it worth getting.  This is true at least in my collection –you will see some alternatives later on, and no, I don’t own Tom Ford Narcissist, which is the only competitor.  Of course if you’re getting into makeup this might be a frightening shade, even when a sheer application means a nice flush and no clown face.  If you’re starting or are just afraid of this boldness, you can try Day Dream blush (in this same collection) or go for one of the nude-ish shades I showed in this post.

 

Pigmentado es lo menos que se puede decir de este blush, es muy vibrante y si de casualidad aplicas mucho definitivamente se va a ver como de payasito.  Para aplicarlo recomiendo una brocha tipo Yachiyo (Nars o Hakuhodo) o una de doble fibra (como la Mac 168), y usar muy poquito.  Siempre es mejor aumentar la intensidad de un tono que tratar de quitarlo.  Comparé este blush con dos de los tonos más pigmentados que tengo –hasta el momento: Hydrangea Pink y Coral Pink de Burberry, y ninguno resultó tan intenso y pigmentado.  Agregé algunos otros tonos para comparar, incluyendo tonos de la línea permanente de Nars o de una marca más accesible como L.A. Colors.

Pigmented is the least you can say about this blush, it’s super vibrant and if you apply with a heavy hand it will definitely look clownish.  I really recommend using a Yachiyo (either Nars or Hakuhodo) or stippling brush (like Mac 168) to apply it, and taking very little product.  It’s always better to build a shade than trying to take the excess away.  I tried to compare it with some of my most pigmented blushes –at that moment: Burberry Hydrangea Pink and Coral Pink neither was that pigmented nor vibrant. I added a couple of other options for comparison, which are either from Nars permanent line or from the more affordable L.A. Minerals.

Aquí hay algunas fotos con un look con varios de los nuevos productos de Nars –esto de hace algunos días.  Una disculpa de antemano porque la base empezó a desvanecerse en algunas partes, pero pude tomar las fotos hasta un par de horas después, y desgraciadamente el Tinted Moisturizer de Nars y mi piel nunca se han llevado bien. 

Here are some pictures with a look with some of the newest Nars items that I got done at Nars counter some days ago.  I’m sorry base seems a little melt of in some places, I could take the pics a couple of hours later I got this done and unfortunately Nars Tinted Moisturizer and my skin have never been good friends. 

Conclusión: si estás dispuesta a probar color, prueba este.

Bottom line: if you’re willing to try color, go for this.
